Satellite images have revealed evidence of a Viking settlement in Point Rosee on the southwestern coast of Newfoundland, the farthest south the Vikings have ever been known to settle. The Canadian site was uncovered by infrared images and revealed “a fire-cracked stone and some mangled scraps of iron.” The discovery marks the second one ever found in North America. Mark Sovel and Margaret J. Howell discuss the settlement and findings further on the Lip News. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/04/01/science/vikings-archaeology-north-america-newfoundland.html?_r=0 Newest Lip News playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIbOpTLE2Zg&list=PLjk3H0GXhhGcjJDo6cQBCQprDMQyUQY3r&index=1 The Journalists: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1nx8kenck0&list=PLjk3H0GXhhGfqe9hDJc8fi5qy-kDXW3r0&index=1 CRIME TIME clips playlist – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dj_k32lhlzA&index=1&list=PLjk3H0GXhhGeC9DbpSnIvd2i9BHh2dBvv BYOD (Bring Your Own Doc) Highlight Videos- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3L1ssoyhSdY&list=PLjk3H0GXhhGeu2DCf6Ouo7hTsA5QB2MAL&index=1 MEDIA MAYHEM short videos playlist - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDc-Ptjdn8o&list=PLjk3H0GXhhGcz4un-zws5sMlCLk3NNjDP&index=1 http://www.thelip.tv https://www.facebook.com/thelip.tv http://www.youtube.com/theliptv
kricketcraze EXCO: COLUMBUS DIDINT EVEN COME CLOSE TO AMERICA MY OPINION HE IS A GOOD FIGURE HEAD BUT ULTIMATELY COLUMBUS=OVERRATED
lilly bloom: There's nothing new about the Vikings having been in the Americas well over 1000-years ago. The evidence is truly overwhelming, but it goes against 150-years of false teaching in our school system, and the system does not want to admit that they're wrong on another subject, as they have been on so many others.

Evidence for Vikings in Canada
Here's one for you. You can read these and make up your own mind. The skeptical authors don't address the fact that, although the people they mention are skeptics, someone had to have a knowledge of the oldest form of Hebrew there is. Like the Vikings, the Phoenicians were world explorers and used a very similar alphabet to the ancient Hebrew one. So did the Scythians.
The central claim of the skeptics is ridiculous, that the stone was brought from the ancient world across the sea and left there. They claim it must have been commissioned in Europe. Well, how did they carry a 70-ton boulder around the world? And why would they do that?
The Believers' Side
The Skeptical Side
Asahel: I was interested in Vikings discovery ,then I was distracted at 0:34
Harbinger: "may have been here way before Christopher Columbus".
You could get away with that in the 1950's - but by the 1960's it's settled science - the Vikings WERE HERE way before Columbus.
Kim: I'm Viking heritage I could have told them we were here before Columbus and even in America.
Chelo Figueroa: Total bs, later their going to say that the vikings were in America before the Indians.
Chris waymeyer: This has been known for a longtime...Icelandic sagas claimed this already...it was proven in the 1970s and the recent discovery is just icing on the cake...interestingly the Kensington rhinestone may be genuine after all. Look it up a rhinestone stone found in Minnesota
Byron Welichko: Columbus never even set foot in America.
Hythe: newfineland. Bitch plz
Degrelle Holt: Yeah, but nobody cared about the New World until Columbus. The Chinese wouldn't bother with it , and the Vikings didn't do anything either.
altha 2014: American was never lost to be discovered. It was always here
altha 2014: Columbus never stepped foot in now what is the United States
newage777777: Poor natives ...
mad max: vikings didn't come to north america to raid they were exploring. if the natives had gold and treasure like England they would have came back with a invading army. the natives would have been wiped out. just like just like what happened in south america when the Spanish came
That Townie: Shetland and Orkney islanders were visiting North America 500 years before the Viking ever even got to Iceland. There are cairns in the Arctic that pre-date the Vikings, and the Thule and Dorset did not build cairns. Later Inuit built inukshuk, which resemble a human form, but they did not build 10 and 12 foot stone cairns, nor did the Vikings.
John Pieloio: lol at the moralization of this. It was an age of WAR and CONQUEST! People act like if modern day sensitivities applied back then. You wouldnt last long with today's morals in that world, thats for sure.
Fraser Card: o.k. if YOU really wanna know who you REALLY are ? Spend the $ 200.00 bucks, with Ancestry D.N.A. and cut to the chase K ? There's going to be a ton of unhappy people after. Take the Ojibwa Indians in Ontario Canada. Being INDIAN....... they should have D.N.A. factors of, A,B,C,D...but they don't. Their D.N.A. factor is in fact " X ". What /who is " X " ? Neanderthal/European. Just now handed down by three D.N.A. Labs. Read'em and weep girls. hahahahaha Go ahead, spend the $ 200.00 Who's your Daddy Eh ? hahahahahahahahaaaaa I Love that line Eh ?
Rex Mundi: New Fun Land. That;s how you pronounce it, stress on Land
And yes, they have new evidence. But just the tip of the iceberg. Columbus walked on an island in the Carribean. The Norse lived and worked in Newfoundland
sorich: I have a felling she smacks his glasses off and rides him into the sunset after every taping.
ingvar ellingsen: Vikings came to america, and settled there. For how long? That's the question. I am from Norway and I love America!
