ASEAN Meeting Continues in Hanoi

Security is tight in Hanoi on the second day of the ASEAN meeting. Topping the agenda are tensions on the Korean peninsula and upcoming elections in Burma. Here's more. Foreign ministers and delegates at the ASEAN regional forum continue their second day of talks under tightened security Wednesday. Burma and North Korea are expected to continue to be at the top of the meeting's agenda. The chairman of the 10-member group, which includes Burma, said on Tuesday that there is concern over the upcoming elections in the military-ruled state. Tension between North and South Korea remains high following the March sinking of a South Korean warship, killing 46 sailors. Pyongyang has denied responsibility for the incident. Also a big topic... North Korea's nuclear disarmament. Six-party talks involving North and South Korea, the United States, Japan, Russia and China have been in limbo since 2007. South Korea and the United States have previously said the North must first admit responsibility for sinking the South Korean battleship [Kurt Campbell, The U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian Affairs]: "We do not want to talk for taking sake. ... there has to be a clear determination." Before talks on the communist state's nuclear program resume.
